Their was potential here as a transformation story. But one of the transforamtions has so little content that they could of been a dragon from the start and it would of changed very little. The other transformation is a little bit more detailed but cut out the pre transformation and a couple of paragraphs and it would not change the story
Second their is a big disconnect halway through the story in the tone of the story. Everything is going well, a few challenges that are easily overcome and then suddenly their is a big challenge
