My main problems with the book are as follows
-One the main plot seems to be very harry potter in that suddenly they end up at the magic school. (And the parent figure is removed)
-Then the main character suddenly gets new powers as the plot demands(although it does explain in universe how.)
-The big reveal at the end is not really that big a deal
The biggest indicator though about how well I liked the story. I can't remember the names of any of the main characters.
