“The Anansi. To put it about as bluntly as a club hitting a skull, they’re more or less ‘spider people.’”
His eyes widened and a shiver went down his spine. “S-spider people?”
“Oh yeah. But they’re really nice and actually rather shy. I’m sure you’d fit in just fine.”
“Are you sure they aren’t going to eat me or anything?” Gideon asked.
“Yes, I am. The only meat they eat is from the giant insects they hunt near their village. Outside of those big flies and such, they’re utterly harmless. They’ve never once hurt anyone.”
“Sounds like you’ve got a history with them…”
“Eh, yeah, that’s one way to put it. I’ve known them ever since they first came to this world, and I was their first friend. Off and on again I drop by and meet with them, have a little bit of fun, and just check up in general.”
“Are there more like them?” Gideon asked.
“How do you mean?”
“These… animal shifters.”
