You don’t want to eavesdrop. It is too rude, and you wouldn’t want anyone to do so to you. You hear them approaching and you push yourself into a sitting position, leaning against the stone wall behind you. A few seconds later the elder wolf walks in, followed by a younger male wolf.

This wolf is big, way taller than the older wolf, with wide shoulders and muscles. His coat is a dark gray, almost black, and when he notices you are awake, he turns and locks his green eyes with yours. You can see what seems to be distrust in them, but after a few seconds, you look away, shuddering.

“Good to see you’re awake.” The elder says, taking a seat on the rock from earlier.

You look towards him and he motions to the big wolf. “This is our alpha.”

“Hello.” He greets simply, his deep voice rumbling.

You nod in greeting, not trusting your voice to not be shaky.

“Our alpha here doesn’t want you to stay with us.” The old wolf starts.

“Hey now—“ The alpha tries to get in, but is cut off by the elder.

“He thinks you could possibly be dangerous. I don’t think you have a dangerous bone in your body. At least not one that wasn’t broken.” He sniggers at this last bit, making a joke about how he had found her gravely injured.

Swallowing, you turn to look at the alpha again, making sure to keep your gaze downward so not to show disrespect. “I mean no harm to anyone. I’m not even sure what is going on or how I got here.”

He is silent for what seems like an eternity, searching up and down you, before he sighs, standing up and turning away. “Fine. I’ll say I believe you for now. But watch yourself, because I’ll have someone monitoring you at all times until you prove it to me.” With that he walked away, leaving you alone with the older wolf once more.

It was quiet for a few seconds before the elder started laughing.

You turn to him questioningly.

“He likes to play tough. I can tell he doesn’t think you’re a threat. I just find it funny when he tries to act scary.”

You find it odd that he would think that way about his alpha, and when you ask he shocks you. “Oh, that’s my son. That’s why.”

That’s all he says on the matter, but you can’t help but think about how they didn’t really look much alike.

“I’ve actually got to go to his hut to pick up something I left there, and I would love it if you would accompany me. I can show you around while we’re out there.”

You’re not sure if you want to risk running into the alpha again but you really want to go out and get some fresh air.
