Daniel rushed out of the bathroom and tore up all sorts of knickknacks in a desperate search for his phone. His worry was increasing with every drawer he scanned. So far he’d encountered nail polish, lipstick, and a variety of shiny bangles. He repeatedly tried to comfort himself with the possibility that Pammy had just left them behind one day. That had to be it, right?

 

After a few minutes of barely controlled chaos, Daniel’s cell was in his grasp. He took a deep breath and dialed.
