Strange Happenings star star star star star

Midnight. They always came at midnight. The chimes from the old grandfather clock in the den jolted Daniel out of his restless dreams. It wasn't the chimes that woke him so much as the knowledge that They were coming. It was the same horrifying ritual, every single night.

The room was illuminated by an eerie pale green glow. Three figures in haz-mat suits stood around his bed. One of them held a large briefcase, another held a gun, and the third--the apparent leader, from the way he acted--was making entries into a large handheld computer. Daniel tried to escape, to run, to even move, but some unseen force held him in place, as immobile as the bed itself. The leader looked up from his computer and signaled to the one holding the briefcase, who set the case down and began to open it. Daniel strained to see its contents, but couldn't from his position. If only he could move...

The leader reached forward, grabbed the bedcovers and--

The shrill blast of Daniel's alarm clock filled the room. He'd had that dream again, the same one he'd been having every night for nearly a month. Except that it didn't feel like a normal dream. It felt more like a memory, but one that had been partially forgotten. Anyway, Dan had more important things to worry about, so he pushed whatever it was aside for the moment. Today was the last day of school, finally. All he had to do was survive his last few final exams, and he'd be home free. He wasn't about to let a creepy dream get him down.

Dr. DiCaoz glanced over his biology classroom. "Is anybody still working on the final?" he asked tiredly. He paused for a moment, then said, "If everybody is finished, you may talk quietly amongst yourselves for the remainder of the period." As the class erupted in chatter, he went back to nursing his hangover.

Daniel loved his biology class. It wasn't just that he was good at it, or that it was the last class of the day. By some bit of luck or fate, he happened to be in the same class as his four closest friends, Gassan, David, Pammy, and Jake. Gassan, David, and Pammy had become absurdly popular since coming to high school. Gassan was Lebanese and therefore "exotic," David was a star swimmer, and Pammy was a cheerleader. In retrospect, popularity was an inevitability. To the other popular kids, Jake an avid follower of the Furry subculture (he called it a craze, but nobody else did) and Daniel, the introspective writer, were social liabilities. Still, Gassan, David, and Pam never let their newfound "friends" keep them away from Jake and Dan. Privately, Daniel was grateful that he had managed to befriend the four people who appeared to be immune to high school drama.

"So, what'd you guys think?" Pammy whispered.

"I'm pretty sure Dr. Di is a nutcase," Gassan answered quickly. He was met with a chorus of approval from his companions.

"Anyway," Pam continued, "are we having our annual Thank-God-The-Schoolyear's-Over party tonight?"

"I can't go," Jake said, "I've got a convention."

"I can't go either," said David, "My dad's taking me camping. He's on a back-to-nature kick."

"I'm visiting my grandma," Gassan said. Pammy rolled her eyes.

"Alright," she sighed, "when do you guys get back?"

"Sunday evening"

"Sunday, but it'll be late."

"So," Pammy continued, "is Monday night alright with everyone?"

The days passed quickly. By the time Monday arrived, he had gone an entire weekend without his mysterious dreams. He was mostly relieved, but part of him wished the visitors would come back so he could find out what they were up to.

The streets were charged with an eerie calm. A summer storm was coming. As Daniel reached Pam's door, he couldn't help but feel a strange foreboding. Something was decidedly wrong. He rang the bell.

"Come in," called Pammy. Dan opened the door and found friend sitting on the floor in a tidy circle. They were all staring at him, an unsettling hunger in their eyes. "We are playing Truth or Dare," Pammy intoned mechanically. "Please, join us. Truth or Dare?"

"Please choose Dare," Gassan said, in the same unearthly voice.

"The Truth is never any fun," agreed David, still in the same tone. Throughout the exchange, none of the four took their eyes off of Daniel.

"Is everything alright?" he asked. "You all seem...different."

Pammy answered in the same monotone as before: "We are collectively unnerved at a series of recurring dreams we have been having. Perhaps you too are experiencing these visions?"

"Yeah," Dan said, "but I'm not acting that weird about it."

"Perhaps," Pammy said, "All will be made more clear if you answer this simple question: Truth...or Dare?"

Dreams emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Normally people wake up from falling in dreams, right?

Daniel contemplated that thought while watching the island approaching below. It was his only real sense of motion. This land mass rapidly taking up his vision seemed to be afloat in a black void of nothingness. Daniel could not even feel air rushing against his body. Something that usually came with terminal velocity.

He had little time to question the capacity to breath for that matter. Daniel barely missed a cluster of palm trees as he shot past. The ground remained only a few moments away from embracing Daniel.

It took a few more moments for Daniel to realize he was not going to go splat. There had been no jerking stop of motion, or even a sense of deceleration. It was almost like the island had been moving to match up with him.

Assuming being left suspended four inches in the air was synchronisation. Daniel sighed, working up the courage to try kicking the air. That surprisingly worked, sending him in a slight spin before settling both feet on sandy ground. Gravity finally took hold then to keep him from leaping back off into space or something.

The island surrounding Daniel looked fairly nice, if a bit void of sensations. He could not even feel the bark of the tropical trees when touched one. Definitely the signs of a dream at least.

Especially when Daniel saw them again, as expected. Technically he could not see-see them. Daniel just had that gut feeling after putting up with this for so long. As far back as he remembered they always came without fail every night. The forms might tend to change sometimes but he was sure the shadows peeking out behind the trees were for him. Shapes only lingered outside the corner of Daniel's eyes, vanishing the second he turned to face them.

"What is it this time!?" He tried to cry to the void. Great, not even sound registered to his senses in this place.

Apparently someone could hear him, unless random electronics falling from the sky was a regular occurence. Not to mention pain was something dream rules seemed to have conveniently forgotten. Once Daniel was done rubbing his head uttering every curse he knew, he stooped to pick up what had fallen. It was a pretty small, plastic toy that fit easily into his hand. The face had a very simple eight-bit screen and several buttons around it. There was even a belt clip attached to the top.

Did they seriously just throw a childrens toy at him?

They were not about to elaborate on their intentions with this device either, just continuing to hide behind trees like Daniel was unaware of their presence. Daniel was fine with that. The times when they were a lot more up close and intrusive were the really disturbing dreams. This was almost a relaxing change of pace.

Until he started randomly pushing buttons. Each one gave off a short beep that caused the little screen to flash a different color. Blue, red, yellow, purple, pink, Daniel found himself starting to get fascinated with the different color combinations he could make out of this. It was not like he had anything else to do.

He almost dropped the device when after one random combination cause the device to vibrate violently. The beeping became replaced by a shrill static noise, not unlike a classic dial-up signal.

It was probably that signal which opened an ominous swirling portals in front of Daniel. His jaw dropped in wonder at this strange twist to an already surreal dream. But that surprise was nothing compared to the black silhouette that began to take shape.

Whoever, whatever, this form was certainly flaunted its hourglass figure well. Large womanly hip bumped hard with each slow step it took towards him. Equally large breasts could be seen shifting along in the portals bright backdrop. But it was the sight of large pointed ears and a thick tail that told Daniel she was far from human.

Unfortunately the perspective of directly facing the portal made it hard for Daniel to discern her exact distance to him. Not until she stopped to reach out for his face. Her hand horrified Daniel with its monstrous three fingers. Sharp claws flashed in the light bearing down on his eyes.

Daniel promptly shot up in bed in a cold sweat. His chest puffed rapidly to his labored pants, slowing as he took in the familiar comforts of his own room. It was just another dream. Another awkward incident of 'them' tormenting everything about his existence. These stupid visits would be a lot less stressful if it was ever clear what they wanted with an average joe.

Moving to wipe perspiration from his forehead almost knocked Daniel back out. He had been so lost in his thoughts that it never registered the strange plastic device was still gripped tightly in his hand.

A hand that was composed of only three thick fingers, coated in white fur and tipped with sharp claws.

Denise? emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Of course Daniel did what any rational person would do at such a sight; scream like a little girl. Covers were sent flying in his swift flight from bed over to the dressing mirror. It was a relief to find a still mostly human self gawking back in his boxers. Only his hand holding the device seemed to have become some kind of furry monster paw.

But that was when Daniel noticed his eyes. While his iris had become a sparkling emerald green, the sclera were blacker than night to make them stand out exponentially. Such an inhuman gaze, evn one of panic, cause Daniel to give another tiny squeal.

"What on earth is going on in here!?"

Daniel blushed red as his bedroom door slammed open. His mother took two steps in eyeing him in equal panic. After a second of confirm her kid was not in mortal peril, the elder woman took a moment to sweep the room. Finding more amounts of nothing to be threatened be, she fixed on Daniel with a quizzical expression.

"Really, Denise? What have I told you about not wearing a bra to bed? You'll thank me when gravity is not your friend in ten years."

"W-what?" There were too many reasons for Daniel's blushing to list. Why would his mom expect her son to wear a bra? He did not even own a bra. "Wait wait wait! Mom! My's...well look!"

Daniel raised up the white paw that had replace his normal extremity. The plastic device still remained clenched between dagger-tipped claws. It was still; a huge toss up if smashing it, or keeping it would be more beneficial towards his current problems.

His mom, on the other hand, was staring like Daniel had gone completely nuts. Granted, that was a very likely possibility in itself. She did seem to regard the toy in his monster hand with a glimmer of some curiosity. The older woman's eyes narrowed as some signs of gears turned inside her head. For a moment Daniel even dared to hope she might notice the fact he had white fur across his hand.

That damn dial-up static nearly startled Daniel out of his boxers. Yet his Mom merely blinked at his hand, oblivious to such noise cutting through the air. Her pensive expression fell back into a nearly vacant stare as she shifted to meet her son's eyes. Apparently she had no idea why her poor boy was freaking out over the fact white fur was resuming to grow up his wrist. All the skin up to the elbow was consumed in seconds by a shining white pelt. The arm itself thickened with athletic muscle Daniel had never known.

"Did you hurt your hand, sweetie? You know how I feel about those silly dares you get up to with your friends."

"I..I...bwah!?" Daniel gulped for air trying to understand why it felt like he was the one overreacting here. "D-don't I look a little bit different to you?"

His mom glanced to the monster arm again, but only for a moment. With a bemused scoff she replied, "No, and it better stay that way. If your father or I find you trying those piercing mod cards again we'll ground you from your digivice until graduation. Now hurry up and get ready for school. I'm burning breakfast."

Well, that certainly went more...normal than Daniel had been expecting. Almost a full minute passed before he collected enough wits to turn his attention away from the closed door. The exchange still left him terribly unsettled. His mom looked at the furry monster arm like he had been born with it. Did those dream people start reaching out to others he knew or something?

A disturbing question to ponder when he was a little less terrified about the horrific transformation taking place. Daniel needed to get help, and school did sound like the only potential place to find it. Searching Google for 'my hand turned into a paw' only brought up links to weird werewolf and Zootopia fanfiction. Maybe his friends could be a little more helpful. Jake mentioned once he was into that wierd 'furry' stuff getting popular online.

Get Ready emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Wait, what if the same thing that overcame his mom happened to them? It would be very hard to get help from people that could not understand you even had a problem.

Daniel glanced at the little toy his mom had called a digivice still clasped in his three fingers. That had to have been what was caused her sudden switch in perspective. Either that or furry arms spark untold levels of self denial about reality.

The clock was already reading eight AM. A phone call might help, but would definitely be pushing it. His stomach gave a hard rumble. Daniel set the digivice on his dresser to pat it with both human and monster hand. Losing one's humanity might be top on the list of priorities but he was also starving.

Maybe the transformation had something to do with his hunger as well. Either way he was going to start losing a lot more than an arm if he did not hurry.

Mom had made one good point; Daniel was not going anywhere without some clothes first. Rushing to the closet Daniel flung the doors open intent on grabbing the first shirt his eyes fell on like any normal guy.

More Changes emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

A wave of dizziness put a pin in that plan. Daniel groaned as he leaned against the closet door. Not because the world was spiraling out of control, but all muscle in his feet were refusing to work as designed. Goosebumps turned into a mild itching as white fur broke through the skin to engulf his feet. It quickly poured up his shins stopping just shy of the knees. From there the color switched to a golden hue moving up his thighs to encompass his hips.

Grumbling, Daniel put his claws to some use scratching at the beautiful pelt around his rear. It was not meshing well against the fabric of his underwear.

No sooner had the fur stopped growing at the waist down than another hard cramp seized Daniel's feet. Toes clenched involuntarily and suddenly started to...flicker. They just jerked about in odd, jagged shapes like some video game glitch. Each time Daniel could see his feet snap back a little larger, swollen until one harsh glitch left his toes merged into three round digits. Underneath them swelled a set of leathery skin pads that gave a strange sort of cushion support. Probably to make up for the fact such huge paws could not possibly fit into a shoe anymore.

More so when his heels lifted off the ground undergoing a complete bone reconfiguration. Paw toes spread, claws digging into the carpet as the whole foot lengthened into a high arch. Shins shrank to compensate, yet Daniel's jaw dropped watching his thighs double in size. Massive muscle bulked up under all that fur on par with Olympic runners. He certainly needed it with his shifting anatomy forcing all weight onto his enormous toes.

Daniel took several deep breaths taking stock of his fuzzy lower half. Pants seemed a bit out of the question now. Even if he could somehow get both paws through some jeans, he had grown the biggest set of 'thunder thighs' than any two girls at school combined. Hips and butt had gotten little bit plumper as well. It made him look incredibly girly, come to think of it.

School! Daniel reeled from his thoughts in a new panic. He was going to have to try and fit into something if he hoped to get out of this room. Whipping back to the closet he attempted to make a selection among the usual assortment of…

Fur and animal mutations had been freaky enough. Apparently, while Daniel had been distracted by those all his hanging undershirts had changed to a female equivalent. Most were sports bras, but a couple strapons were hiding in the back. The generous size of all their cups perturbed Daniel a little.

Checking the dresser did not fare much better. Instead of socks, there were just long open-ended sleeves in both black and blue wool. Less surprising was all the panties bursting out of the underwear drawer.

A thought occurred to Daniel. Glancing down caused him to groan. Of course the underwear he had on also became designed for a female form. In fact, they were pretty comfortable hugging his hips...and smoothed crotch.

"Oh, come on!" Daniel nearly shouted before remembering his family outside. Some human fingers poked at the cotton covering his groin, feeling just enough to confirm clothes were not the only thing turning female in his room.

Well, her room now.

Getting Dressed emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

"Frack it!" Daniel snagged a random sports bra to proceed with dressing. The world was glitching out on her. Odds were good no one would raise an eyebrow over some girl clothes now. Technically they were not inappropriate anymore.

Daniel adjusted the straps gazing at the loose cups hanging off her chest. According to the tag they were only a size C, but still felt huge. Something told her it would be a necessity soon enough too.

At least Daniel's preferred assortment of shirts with meme references on the front remained intact. They just shrank to a smaller, snug size to better define her curves. She also found a few scraps of instructions revealing her pile of 'sleeves' were still actual socks. The ends had merely been designed to let the plump paws poke out for full pad support. Daniel had to admit it made them look kind of cute that way.

But then came the worst choice of the morning; shorts or skirts. Not a single pair of jeans or even sweats could be found among the other girly garments. And neither option really made Daniel that excited to head outside.

Written by DesmondFallout on 07 October 2018

Skirt emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Eventually, skirts won this crucial debate. Daniel felt getting used to the draft would be a better experience than having shorts clinging to her butt. Turning to check her profile in the mirror, Daniel gave a small sigh. The hanging fabric did nothing to hide the heavy bottom nature of her changing figure. On the bright side, most of it was rippling muscle under all that fur. The other guys in Daniel's circle of friends would never hope to achieve this kind of running power on a high school budget.

Daniel's trusty backpack was snatched up from the closet floor as she dashed out. The human hand was on the front doorknob when she remembered the digivice still sat on her desk.
The idea of just leaving it there was sorely tempting. It was not an unfair assumption to think that was the root of all Daniel's current morning problems. The toy had been a gift from 'them' after all.

On the other hand...paw there was no way of telling if distance would keep further reality glitches from happening. Besides, one of the guys at school might have an idea what to do with the stupid thing.

Racing back to her room only took Daniel a few surprising seconds. The very passing of her body was a blur in the corner of her parent's eye, barely generating a breeze at such speeds. Daniel could not help grinning that all her muscle poking through the fur was not for a sexy show. Such perks would have been really incredible to play around with if not for the monster girl transformation that came with them. Daniel swallowed her curiosity for later and grabbed the digivice with her human hand.

Former Human Hand emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Make that former human hand. Daniel blinked, staring dumbfounded at the supposed children's toy, and then the three furry, clawed fingers clutching it. Her arm had joined its opposite in becoming a full fledge canines paw. At least now she had some semblance of symmetry.
Standing around in stupefied thought was not going to help. Daniel kept downstairs four at a time while shoving the device in his backpack.

Turned out there was little need to worry about running late with beefed up animal legs. By the time Daniel realized the true measure of her run speed she had already overtaken the bus on it's usual route to school. Most students did not give her much of a glance at thirty miles per hour. The glaring exception, of course, being the more lewd cliques.

"When you going to call me, babe?"

"Can you wear that skirt to gym class? Your panties look so nice when you run."

"Eat the asphalt, furfag!"

Get out of Traffic emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Daniel almost did that last one if not for the warning horn. Realization she had drifted into the oncoming traffic lane hit before the car. Just in time to prompt her paws to push off the ground. Never losing momentum, Daniel hopped onto the car's hood and continued running along its roof. Another bounce off its trunk had her back on the solid ground without incident.

"Show off!" Came the last cries before Daniel turned down a side ally that cut closer to school.

"Holy fuck…" Daniel was a bit too stunned by her athletic prowess to care for some daily hazing. Going down the alley, she experimented with jumping over trash bins and dashing sideways along the surrounding walls. With each bit of practice, the flow of ninja-style movements became almost second nature. This, in turn, had her grinning a mouthful of very sharp teeth. "Aw fuck, this is awesome!"

She had to get higher. Daniel leaped on top of the walls, running along their narrow width with a balance and grace beyond Olympic skills. With this kind of travel, the interconnecting system of stone barriers made a perfect shortcut to school.

"Morning Denise! Taking the scenic route to school again?"

"Morning, Ms. Roberts! This is the best way to travel, after all," Daniel replied without looking at the older woman watering her flower bushes. Paws landed almost silently on the roof of a house, which she scaled in short hops.

The adrenaline rush was getting a bit too high for Daniel's worrisome human mind to keep up. Otherwise, she would have been losing her focus trying to figure out how she knew a Ms. Roberts. But that was not nearly as fun as reaching the roof's edge and leaping off to dash across the next home.

The wind rushing across Daniel's body with each jump felt heavenly on her fur. Even her hair, which waved like a cape behind her, felt soothed as it grew. A shift in pigments caused it to bleach into a snowy pure white, not unlike her hand and paw fur.

If Daniel had not been wearing clothes, she might have also noticed the mild itching that crawled up her torso. An extra fluffy coat of white grew across her stomach and chest, while more yellow blanketed the sides and back.

Being covered made such changes not nearly as apparent as when Daniel's figure began filling out in other ways. Each leap, every dash, seemed to spark a rush of muscle alterations to better fit the monster woman she was becoming. After only a few roofs her hips had a lot more bounce to each step, spreading out into a thick curve that stretched her panties snug. Strong muscles befitting such a great runner piled onto her rear to help fill out the back.

As she came within spitting distance of the school, Daniels' thighs inflated with a hard flexed that left them doubled in size. With her strongest jump yet she cleared a four-lane street and sailed easily over the fence onto campus grounds. Her shirt fluttered in the updraft flashing a creamy furred waist for anyone that might be watching. It had caved inwards into a typical female figure that further advertised Daniel's heavy rear. Granted she had some abdominal muscle poking out through her pelt to admire as well.

"You're a bit late." emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

"You're a bit late."

Daniel yipped, almost toppling backward out of her cool entrance pose. A lot of the mingling kids that had been watching giggled as they went about their own days. However, Pammy stood only feet away looking at her wristwatch with a sour expression.

"That's really not like you, Denise. You've slept in and still made it before the bus. Please tell me Jake hasn't been messing with your data code again?"

Now that the thrill of being an athletic badass was over, Daniel's mind seemed to be going back to confused panic mode. Looked like she had guessed correctly in that not a single kid seemed weirded out by the furry person in a skirt arriving for classes. The bus she had so casually run past had pulled up to the curb and began letting it's passengers off.

Looking into the parking lot, she could make out their friend Jake climbing out of a red sports car. He was followed closely by followed by Gasson and David, who had been driving. They quickly spotted her with Pammy and began working through the crowds in their direction.

It was not until Daniel caught Jake's eye that she remembered all the weird stuff he was into. 'Furry' was the word they used to label strong affection for animal people of something. The ideas depicted in that so-called 'art' website, FurAffection, made Daniel's own morning feel tame.

"No, seriously!" Pammy snapped Daniel out his daydream of fat Yoshi pictures with a tone of aggressive concern. "Is he screwing with you or your code? We really don't need another noodle incident before you love birds do that dare today."

"S-sorry!?" Daniel squeaked but quickly recovered. The idea of having a boyfriend excited her so much she wanted to hurl. "No, of course not! I mean, I was a bit distracted whe-YIPE!"

Daniel's spine twitched, which caused her skirt to flutter. That was definitely not something it should have been able to do. Whipping her head back found the culprit to be an amazingly long limb wagging against her thighs. Its length was coated in a dense layer of yellow fur, dotted in white at the tip. How beautiful, she had grown a tail now.

Written by DesmondFallout on 13 October 2018

Uncontained Tail emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Her peers seemed less interested in that than how it repeatedly exposed her pantie-clad rear with every twitch. Daniel realized dignity was already a lost cause, so reached back to undo the clasp in her skirts rear hem. With a bit of hurried fidgeting, and a lot more underwear flashing, she managed to work the massive tail through its designed hole in her garment. It must have been some miracle that did not get teachers and bus drivers screaming rage at her undignified performance.

"Wow, you must have been in a hurry to forget to button your tail." Pammy leaned in with a knowing grin. "Or are the boys bribing you to still flash the school?"

"Still!?" Daniel parroted with her face redder than a Christmas light. She had wondered if her friends were going to act differently like her parents, but had not expected something lewd. Thoughts raced for any excuse to change the subject, choosing to go with whatever poured out her mouth naturally. "Come on, Pam, you know there's only so much of my ass these sheep can take before they realize how lower class they are. It's why we got to do the new dare today, right? Incidentally, when we going to be going over the specifics?"

Yeah, that felt pretty good to say. Daniel even felt a swell of pride seeing Pammy grin with amused respect for the retort.

Wait, no, that was not pride she felt swelling.

Daniel stiffened as she felt her bra shift. Ignoring whatever Pammy answer to her questions, she tried not to be conspicuous about turning her gaze downward. Sure enough, she could feel the spandex of her supporting undergarment getting tighter around her chest. A chest that was filling out with so much rapidly developing flesh and fat cells. With each breath, Daniel could see her shirt tent further away from her until it created a reasonably impressive shelf for a teenagers bosom.

"What's up, puppy love!?"

A sharp bark escaped Daniel as she found herself being hugged from behind by hairy male arms. Being caught in a state of mounting hysterics at the realization of growing breasts, she responded rationally with a hard elbow to their gut. The sound of pained grunts made Daniel immediately regret that reflex even before she turned to find Jake sinking to his knees. Gasson, David, and even Pammy did not seem to react to their friend clutching his stomach coughing for breath. They merely walked past to exchange casual greetings.

"Oh my gosh, Jake! I am sooo sorry!" Daniel looked from him to the rest of their friends a bit at a lose. She could have broken a rib or six, and they were looking at her with...pride?

"God damn! Y-you...ugh...really put force into it this time." Even more surprising was when Jake looked up to flash Daniel a smile that caused her to recoil. "You know the anime rules; the harder you push, the more you secretly want me."

"Yeah, pretty sure he would have tried for a free grope if you gave him two more seconds," Gasson agreed. Before Daniel could realize it, he had stepped forward to gently rub at the fuzz behind her ear. It gave an involuntary flick as she eased into it. "You sure you're doing all right, Denise? You seem a bit more tsundere than usual."

Nothing anyone said made Daniel feel all right. But she did enjoy getting her ears rubbed. Something was soothing about the way it tickled her fur. She was soon purring in Gasson's palm, too passive to even notice the pressure building up in her jaws.

"You know I asked the same thing," Pammy piped up. She could not resist cracking a smile watching her friend's extra-long fox ears twitching to Gasson's affection. "I just assumed Jake had been screwing with her digivice like that time he tried to make her boobs…"

"I already explained that was not my intent!" Jake interjected heartedly. "The data card did not say anything about making her more stacked than that literal cow, Mrs. Tassel, teaching English major."

Such highly defensive remarks only got amused and doubtful looks from the entire clique of popular students.

David wrapped an arm around Pammy's shoulders to give a reassuring hug. "You girl's getting a bit scared about that military base again?"

Pammy bit her lip managing one nod. "Something just feels off about the wiki article. It's like no one wants to talk about why it's abandoned."

"They say that about most places we've been," Gasson said as he continued tormenting Daniel by stroking the lengths of her silky hair. Each pass seemed to cause the bridge of her nose to pop outwards. Nose turned black and fused with her upper lip while her entire face pushed out into an animal's muzzle. "Besides, what could be in there that could possibly beat our sweet and gentle Renamon here?"

At that, Daniel slapped a hand on Gasson's chest, gently gliding claws across the fabric of his shirt. "Save the flattery for suckers. I'm only protecting you because you know the right places to give scritches."

"Works for me!"

Jake was in a huff at that. "Hey! I'd give you belly rubs all day long too."

Daniel responded with a soft growl. "I'd break your hands first.

The group chuckled lightly while Daniel was stuck pondering. She absently scratched at the chin of her diamond shaped head thinking over everyone's behavior. Was this supposed to be her digivices idea of a status quo now? It felt like the transformation was finished, yet left everything off from usual. Busting chops had never been something she enjoyed, much less did casually.

But it was so much fun. And Jake was still kind of cute...for a human.

The bell rang, bringing an air of tension over everyone. Daniel shook her head wondering if she had just snapped out of a dream. Although it did spark a memory she was not sure was hers or this new Renamon's.

The dare of all time was today. It meant skipping a whole days worth of class and getting into so much trouble, but they would end up high school legends tomorrow. Everyone always talked about the old military base like some kind of death trap; funded with enough money to by the state, only to be abandoned overnight. Daniel and her friends were more than eager to explore the mystery and bring back something cool to brag about in the process.

Another thought suddenly occurred to Daniel. She reached back to fish out her digivice from a pocket, flipping it over to inspect the back. A barcode had been lasered into the plastic, with a military logo branding underneath the fifteen number digit.

The same one they saw on the bases front gates blocking entry inside.

"Yo! Earth to the digital babe!" Daniel nearly headbutt Jake on accident when she whirled to face him. "You still glitching out or this dare still on? We won't go if you and Pam are out?"

Daniel's paw clenched her digivice tight. "Hell yeah, I'm still game. We gotta get there to find answers, I mean, an adventure even if it kills you. Furry trash."

She glanced past Jake's smug face to Pammy. After a moment's hesitation, the human woman nodded her own approval.

"Well, then let's not dawdle for the teachers to spot us." David quickly ushered everyone out into the parking lot. They could really only hope no one saw them pile back into David's car before driving off campus.

Arriving emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

"So what has been scrambling your data, anyway?" Jake gently rubbed at the fur atop Daniel's thigh. "Don't suppose a night out at Denny's would help?"

Daniel would spend the entire drive out of town pondering how Jake got away wedged between Pammy and herself in the back seat. To her credit, she did not immediately snap the hand tickling her fur. Such light contact stimulated the many fine fibers, causing her legs to shift before she could stop it. This did not escape Jake's notice judging by his grin, but when his fingers tried to slide a little further in, they were promptly plucked off by Daniel's thicker paws.

"I'm having enough nightmares fragmenting my data without pondering a night alone with a furry."

Where the heck had that come from? Every time Daniel let herself go into autopilot she seemed keen to assert dominance over anyone's crap. Having everything come second nature and unfamiliar at the same time was so surreal. It must have been that mixed with the cute animal face that made her so endearing though, as everyone treated her slam with a hearty laugh. Jake simply shrugged and sat back to await the next opportunity for some flirting.

"Oh snap! There she is," David decelerated as the complex rolled over the horizon into view. "You sure it's abandoned? That fence looks new."

"We're fine," Gasson reassured everyone's worries. "There's no one around but squatters and coyotes. They probably got some guards that come every week to drive around."

"If you say so."

With that, David turned off into a dirt path. This took them to a locked entrance on the far side not easily seen from the main road. No one was quick to get out once they had arrived either.

Everyone jumped and whirled to look at Daniel. She, in turn, slammed her car door to prevent Jake from exiting out her side. Damn bastard seized the chance to stroke her tail on her way out, being damn lucky not to have received a kick to the face for his effort.

Jump the Fence emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Once Gasson's heart stopped pounding, he turned to measure the fence. The one barrier between them and many cool buildings lacked even barbed wire on the top. An easy obstacle to climb.

While the boys were busy helping Pammy hustle over Daniel used a nearby try to spring off across to the other side. Only the tail plopping among the dead grass made any noise from her crouched landing. It would be a long time before she did not become amazed by her own acrobatics.

"Stop being such a show-off!" Pammy grunted as she finally scaled the peak to shuffle down to join Daniel.

The young Renamon could only shrug with a sheepish smirk. "Hard to do when I'm programmed for it, right?"

The boys made it over with less trouble. David brushed past Daniel to overlook the green painted buildings just yards away. Made it obvious he would be the one to ask what everyone was thinking.

"Wow, there's a lot more buildings to cover than those bastards said. So the dare was to take selfies inside the labs, right?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure just the labs." Pammy nodded, but then frowned in a way that twisted Daniel's stomach. "Which building is that?"

David's eyes swept across the group as he gave a sad chuckle. Apparently, that was a question no one thought to ask when it was practical. "We'll have to split up, or we could be fumbling around here all day. Dad's going to kill me for this as is."

"Likewise," muttered Gasson.

Daniel shuddered at a sudden breeze drifting across her tail. "Am I the only asshat here that thinks going Scooby-Doo is the worst idea right now?"

"Yup!" David's tone suddenly turned very chipper while he whirled to face everyone properly. Jerking a thumb to Daniel, he added, "So who wants to be Denise's 'Shaggy?'"

Jake emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Jake's hand promptly shot up. "I say me!"

"I say, Jake!" agreed Pammy.

Gasson nodded. "I say, Jake."

"I say literally anyone else!" Daniel said through clenched fangs.

"Three to one, sorry girl dog." David gave Daniel a pat on the back clearly undeterred by her pearly chompers.

Surprisingly Jake did not use this as an excuse to pet her as he got close. He turned out to be looking past Daniel to suddenly point as a building with satellite dishes on it. "That looks like a good place to make out, I mean, start our search. Come on girlfriend!"

Daniel looked to the others, who had already started walking off towards the opposite side of the compound. She flicked her tail angrily and stomped her plush pads in the dirt after Jake. "Keep talking, furfag. No one will find your body out here."

Jake laughed all the way to the doorway. The door itself had long since been dislodged and laid among the brown grass. Both of them took a second to fish out flashlights before carefully stepping inside. Shoes and paws crunched on piles of old leaves spreading out three feet from the entrance. The usual spooky elements of urban exploration that made Daniel relieved when her pads touched the solid floor again.

One sweep of the room told them this was not the right building to any labs. Moldy couches rested before a tv stand lacking a tv. A fridge lay on its side with both its doors open to empty space. At least the microwave on a dusty counter looked intact.

"Figures their break rooms got cable," Jake chuckled as he moved to a hallway.

I'm a emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

"M-me?! I'm a…" Daniel's muzzle slammed closed hard enough for Jake to hear her fangs click together. The idea of almost self-identifying her gender for the first time made her tail curl low between her legs. It almost felt like she was giving up after only being a guy some hours ago.

But was it really? The current state of reality was not so bad. Fur aside, some things were a lot better.

Unfortunately, Jake took her suddenly meek posture in a very demotivating light. That smug bravado returned as he swept close to brush Daniel's free hand. "Hey, if our brave ninja is suddenly feeling like a delicate flower I'd be happy to hold your hand. I'll even take the lead."

"Like hell, you will!" Daniel whipped her hand back like it's three fingers had been burned. She did not want to pause to think about what constituted her as a 'ninja.' Instead, her flashlight shot down the hallway guiding her fuming paw steps. Each one hit the floor near silently, yet raised small clouds of dust on impact. "A 'Shaggy' like you wouldn't last one punch from me, much less whatever 'evil beast' is lurking around here."

"Like zoinks, Denise! We're really in a pickle now."

"Okay, one; that is the worst impression I've ever heard. And two; shut up! I hear something."

Daniel lowered her flashlight craning an ear down the hallway. A soft beeping was emitting from something further down, but the acoustics made it hard to determine which door the noise was coming from. Curiosity overruled common sense, and she crept along the dark corridor making silent paw prints in the dust.

If only Jake could have been as quiet, or even stayed behind. He was practically riding her tail with footsteps like thunder in Daniel's animal ears.

The first two rooms were empty. Not even furniture laid around the place. Although, both friends did take note the windows were coated in something thick and ridged. It almost looked like dried tar stopping even a sliver of daylight from breaking in. That helped explain the brighter glow of their flashlights this far in.

"Uh, Denise?" Jake tapped the Renamon on her shoulder and nearly getting elbowed again in her fright. "Don't take this as a come on, but your ass is beeping."

Digivice emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

"The fuck?" Daniel reached back into her skirt pocket. There was only one other possession on her person; her digivice.

She palmed the thing in one hand to illuminate it with her flashlight. The little glass screen flashed in rhythm to a deeper toned beeping that was in sync with the one down the hallway. All it displayed was an arrow illuminated by the blinking light. When Daniel tried to move her device around it shifted along to stay pointed at the last door to her left.

"So this place is connected to everything about me?" Daniel had not realized she spoke her thoughts aloud.

It certainly took Jake by surprise. "Whoa! What? You say your an adopted military animal?"

"Maybe? I'm sure not a cereal mascots."

"Hey, I'd pay good money to eat your frosted flakes."

The beeping from both sources suddenly picked up in frequency, discouraging Jake to respond. Daniel had to gesture a few times before he understood to step back. She then pressed against the wall to inch closer and crane one eye into the doorway.

A few seconds of observation dropped her tail along with all tension.

"It's just garbage?"

"Really?" Jake pushed Daniel's ears aside to get a view in too. No clue how such enormous sensors had not heard him approach. "Looks like someone's iPod speakers."

He was not wrong. A single bar stool was erected under a low hanging lightbulb. On it was a more modern looking device. It had a thick platform supporting two towers between a large docking port.

Daniel rechecked her digivice. Not only was it pointing at the small machine, but it even had a USB jack on the bottom. That was new.

Computer emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

"Cool!" Jake pushed past Daniel making her sequel as he approached their discovery. "Think we can charge our phones on this thing?"

"Are you nuts?" Daniel rushed over behind Jake but was relieved he made no moves for any buttons. "This thing could melt us with acid grenades for all we know."

Daniel and Jake stared at each other blankly. Their stunned silence drew attention to how the beeping had stopped with the shrill computer screaming.

"Okay. Cool. It talks too." While not backing off, Jake did not look keen to get closer too. What do you think it's for?"

"Welp!" Daniel threw her hands up while her ears dropped. "You heard the ominous screaming box. Let's go tell the others about it and-HEY!?"

Much as Daniel would have loved to listen to her animal flight instincts her digivice had other needs. No sooner had she turned to the exit than the hand holding the little toy was yanked back towards the machine with the force of a magnet. She was once again glad for the thick tail helping to keep enough balance to prevent crashing over everything.

Jake was so supportive trying not to laugh at her near pratfall. "Don't think it wants you to go, babe."

"Brilliant observation, Jake." Daniel rolled her eyes and barely resisted the urge to run anyway. The pull was not so strong as to keep her in place by her digivice. However, curiosity was bound to claim another cat, or Renamon today. "Anything in furry fandom that gives you an idea of what this wants with me?"

"Apparently you're broken?" Jake shrugged at the look Daniel gave him. "I guess? For all, I know this could give you enormous boobs or make you thirty feet tall."

"That explains so much, actually," Daniel said with only half sarcasm. The machines response was pretty vague, but its word choice left her with hopeful interpretations. "And my boobs are already too small. You...machine thing! What do you mean by repairs?"

Daniel's tail began to wag feverishly. "No shit? So this little thing was set up to fix me from them!?"

"Wait, you really are broken?"

Ignoring Jakes questioning stare, Daniel fiddled her digivice between clawed hands. The magnetic pull between it and this little machine continued to tug encouragingly for her to bring them together. It might be worth the risk if it was designed to put reality back to when she was a human. It was not like it could do much worse to her.
"You think that's safe!?" Jake raised his hands seeing Daniel move the digivice in alignment with the other machines docking port. He seemed to be pondering the effort of stopping her next course of action.

""No," Daniel said, and then gave him a raspberry. "But I'm sure you'll enjoy scaling my ass when I'm thirty feet tall."

The device slid smoothly into the port. Daniel snapped her hand free and took a step back, only to find their tension unwarranted. For almost a whole minute the place fell dead silent once more.

"GAH!" Jake found himself wishing he had moved back. With a soft click, he found himself blinded by virtually every panel of the machine lighting up in a neon red glow. It filled the room with such powerful illumination that the white of Daniel's fur even turned a shade of pink.

Joy rushed through Daniel at the realization he had guessed correctly. The strange people that turned him into a teenage heartthrob monster were not going to win today. Now reality could reset back to normal, and she could taunt them as a regular human guy once again.

RUNNING COMPLETE RENAMON OS INSTALLATION! emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

"What!? NO!!"

By the time Daniel had realized what that outburst had meant it was too late. Her hand shot for the digivice only to slam rigid several inches away. The static noises erupted with a pitch that had Jake falling to his knees cupping his ears in pain. Otherwise, he would have seen they were coming from Daniel's hanging open muzzle.

Daniel's arm fell back limp against her plump hip. Her whole body fell into a relaxed state that barely had her supported on her pawed feet. Emerald eyes fluttered as they rolled towards the ceiling, and then into the back of her diamond-shaped skull.

Static overwhelmed Daniel's mind thanks to its link with her digivice. She was being fed a large clump of fresh data fast as cable internet. There was no way for her to hold onto a single thought, much less consciousness. Soon as she began to recall a memory or fact, it was yanked away, altered, and placed back differently according to the dictations of her small toy.

With each second a little bit of Daniel became refitted into the reality already set for her. Recollections of a once ordinary teenage boy were replaced by that of a furry yellow fox monster. Like the time her parents explained how they received Daniel's egg through the mail without a return address. Unable to have a child they adopted the adorable little fox that popped out after a week of care. It was only after months of collecting data from books and TV they realized she was more than some abnormal dog.

Of course, there were glitches in Daniel's new software. Some inconsistencies in a lifetime were hard for a simple operating system to rewrite together. Those were merely dumped to let the hardware relearn or forget on her own. That was what the external data collection subroutines were for.
