You politely refused their offer. They both looked to you more confused than before. They both took turns questioning the legitimacy of your diplomatic skills, almost shaming you into taking on the grueling task. You continued to stand your ground though, time and time again giving them the exact same answer.
“No.” your eyes were dark, and your tone was firm and confident. But so were the guards which they commanded to cary you away. Having been so defiant to a kingdom with so much power- one you had already invested so much knowledge and intel into, they felt it their constitutional right to throw you in the dungeon against your will.
For the rest of your days, you rotted in that cell, not even sure if your own king and queen knew where you were, if they were looking for you, if they missed you, or if they even noticed you were gone. It was a rather miserable few last days, though you realized to yourself, you could have made more sound decisions.
