In a room star star star star halfstar

The sign reads

"Welcome all new travellers.

To continue you must go through a series of doors.

After going through you will pick a costume. You will then become a half- human and half that creature.

After a week(100 mins a hour,20 hrs a day,10 days a week) has passed you may morph and get another costume. To start of with you will only be able to become 40% human to 60% human.

If you put on a costume you will then become that creature, be teleported to it's home town and have to wait a week before being able to morph.

After 50 costumes you may change into one of your other costumes and become 30% to 70% human. When changing costumes you must wait at least an hour before you can change costumes again.

100 different species/gender costumes allows you to gender-morph and become 20% to 80% human

200 different species costumes allows you to combine costumes and become 10% to 90% human

400 different species costumes allows you to return to your world with no more morphing

And 800 different species costumes makes a polymorph and allows you to morph outside of this world.

Also if you have a costume like a centaur then the human part will always be human and is counted towards the human percentage.

Any gender/species transformation magic of yours can only change your gender(if you have at least 100 costumes) and the animal part to a different animal.

When you change into a different costume (that you already have) you may teleport to that species home town but you will have the week penalty where you have no costume changes.

If you die while wearing a costume you will be reborn at the local inn (or appropriate location ). If you have more then 100 costumes you will lose the costume you had when you died and go to an appropriate place for your next costume.

If you fail to make it out in 100 years(100 weeks in a year) one of your possible forms will be chosen and you will be permanently stuck in that form(apart from magic) until you die. Also there will be no possibility of going back to your world.

Also, one final note: should you take a female form and become pregnant, you won't be able to change your gender until the child is born, though the other aspects of your form may change (the child will change to match.) That is all, and good luck!

You realise that you have to do what the sign said to do and go through the doors and grab a costume.

Manticore star star star star halfstar

One particular costume catches your eye. Colourful, strange and with a mysterious glint behind what you assume are synthetic ruby eyes set into the headpiece’s eye sockets. It is the manticore costume that you walk up to and lift up off of its hinge. The huge furry thing is heavy, but you make do, stumbling back with its weight before examining it in closer detail under the meagre artificial light that the bulb overhead is providing you.

Turning it over you find a zipper on the back hidden between plastic wings and under synthetic fur. It leads from the base of the neck to end of the back. You undo it and the costume loses a lot of its cohesion, falling limply with limbs dangling against the ground. The manticore costume appears several sizes too large for you, almost as if it was made someone closer to seven feet than a little under six. Not that this is much of an impediment for climbing on inside it, quite the opposite actually.

Driven by that curious desire to see what it looks like you starts putting it on, leggings first. There is ample room to not be concerned by your own clothes as you pull it over like a pair of overalls as if you are about to go paint a wall. You do however take your shoes off, since the suit’s leggings end with a pair of fake paws with leather soles to serve as shoes. With a little wiggling you easily among it on both of your legs and you hold the rest around your waist as you shuffle around and test the lower half of the costume.

Snug you think to yourself. Despite its apparent size the costume feels just right around your legs and feet. Now you continue putting it on, threading one arm and now the other through as you bend forward and duck your head in to try and pull the headpiece on. This is now taking some trial and error as you try to figure out where everything is whilst your head is buried inside of fake fur and velvet lining. You try to move back a little to readjust your torso and head, but in doing so you step on the fake scorpion tail that dangles between the legs and almost lose your balance.

You pause, catch both your balance and breath, before now resuming your struggle between man and costume. This time you manage to get your head tucked in underneath the headpiece. Your arms are also now inside of their exterior counterparts and everything feels far more snug than you guessed it would do. Straightening your back, you now start peering through the baubles that constitute the eyes of the headpiece. It restricts your vision, but not to such an extent that you can not move about as normal, your peripheral vision inside of the suit is sufficient to not be blinded by inanimate objects.

Suddenly the zipper on the back of the costume shoots up along your back, sealing the suit shut tight. Animal instinct compels you to freeze and assess what has just happened. Is someone behind you? Impossible, even with all of your attention on getting the suit on. Yet before you are given the liberty of reaching back or turning around to check, the entire suit begins to constrict around you. Pressure from every angle, along every inch of your person increases exponentially with every passing second as you struggle to understand what is happening.

You attempt to move your arms and legs, trying to fight your way out, but the suit has your body paralysed in its grip now. A fantastic yet oddly logical realisation strikes you that the costume itself is somehow alive. Some ethereal vitality is coursing through every fibre of its tacky exterior and interior as it hugs your body with possessive strength. Your chest is constricted even as you feel your genitals and other sensitive areas such as your sinuses begin to ache with pain from the pressure being applied to you. Breathing is difficult if not impossible now as your brain grows starved of oxygen.

Pins and needles shoot across your back, down your legs and make the ground uncomfortable. It is not exactly painful but it is irritating. You hiss and strain even harder against the costume but to no avail. Even as your skin crawls something in the realm of the supernatural is taking hold of you. Flesh and bone is being sized up and subverted by forces that are beyond this world. The prickling sensation is changing to one where flashes of cold and hot spread over your back and chest. Though you are ignorant as to why this is happening, the fact is that the costume is beginning to merge with your body.

The process is a piecemeal one, but occurs simultaneously every part of your body. Bone and muscle mass is gained, whilst the arrangement of anatomy and your body’s shape both internal and external are radically altered. However, the most frightening stage happens now as your eyesight and auditory senses suddenly cut off. Though you can still feel a great many things through tactical senses, you are effectively blind and deaf. Whole seconds of terrifying absence pass before your vision and your hearing return to you, now through monstrous light-sensitive eyes ruby eyes and pointed, furry ears that pick up a far greater dynamic range of sound. It just so happens that this is also where your body is finally released.

‘Fuck!’ You exclaim as you stumble forward and tumble headfirst onto the floor beneath you.

A mild concussion is a distinct worry, but not nearly so much as the slow realisation that everything is different. You flip over onto your back, a new set of smooth wings and a long, arthropod tail separating your bum and back from the carpet. Looking down across your torso and to your legs, your new nocturnally-acclimated eyes take in the sight of what has become of you. Emotions have been nulled by shear disbelief as you behold a naked but fur wrapped body, digitigrade legs, claws and a scorpion stinger on the end of your tail. But, most disturbing of all is the lack of your usual junk in the trunk.

Stripped of any modest clothing, you are free to explore with both hands the changes along your chest and between your legs. For some unfathomable reason, the process that has effected you has not only changed your species to that simulating a mythical manticore, but also your sex. For all intents and purpose you have been remade as a two legged, female manticore. You test your voice, still noticing a change in tongue, teeth and lips, and realise that you are speaking with a distinctly feminine voice. Not only has the transformation changed your body, but even your personal attributes, switching your idiolect from the one you had born all of your adult life to something that sounds like a woman from the baltic states. The accent is tantalising, but definitely not yours.

Whilst still stuck in a daze you get back up on your feet. Your balance is off, not only due to your new legs and paws but the addition of the tail and wings. You stumble around a little as you learn to balance your new body. Everything not only looks but feels new, from your mouth to your toes. It is hard to really process it all. Even just from touching your coarse new fur your brain is assimilating nerve impulses that are nothing like the ones that you have known all of your days as a normal human man.

Yet your opportunity to adjust grows short as once the metamorphosis has settled, something anew but equally radical occurs. You are aware of something hissing. It is like air escaping from a soda bottle containing carbonated liquid. The sound may have even escaped your attention if not for your new ears. But, before you can locate it the sound quickly grows until, right before your eyes, a bubble-like vortex opens up. It is sucking air and much more besides as the strange artefact tugs at your body.

Naturally you try to resist. Using your newfound claws to dig in even as your fur becomes disheveled from the irresistible force. But, your attempts are futile and ultimately you lose your balance. Tumbling towards it, you have no power to stop yourself as the vortex swallows you up whole. Lights bombard you, sound is a rush of air and there are flash of heat and cold as you go spinning through a medium of which you have no understanding of or anyway to even describe it to another. Ultimately the g-forces grow too great, blood pushing back down from your brain as you slowly lose consciousness.

Jungle emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

You wake slowly. Your hearing comes first, the cries of tropical birds fill the air. You remember the soft and high trills from the visit of the local tropical pet store. Disorientated, your brain tries to catch up with events as you slowly open your eyes. Why were you at the pet store? You wonder as your eyes closed faster than they opened, the sharp pain from the bright light forcing you back. Your body still weak from whatever just happen. You slip and fall onto your side, away from the sun and into the soil and foliage below.

Eyes still tightly shut red lights danced behind your eyelids. You take this chance to breathe in deep and relax yourself. You already proven panicking will harm you, even if it was temporary sun blindness. Until you knew exactly what happen to you, you needed to think; you needed your wits. Breathing deeply helped you get that calmness you wanted and it open yourself to more question. The rich scent of earth, the clean robust scent of green plants. The air was pure, purer than anything you had ever smelled before. It was amazing, the hints of dead leaves, the smell of new growth. It was also terrifying. You could never smell something like this before, the thoughts send chills down your spine.

Your eyes open. You're in the shadow of, you look up to confirm; a large tree. The light that blinded you earlier was sunlight, coming through in an opening left by the towering tree company above you. Everything was as you smelled and heard. Trees larger than anything you had ever seen crowed around, numerous as people shopping for the holidays at your local mall. You look down and see leaves and branches of all sorts scattered in different levels of rot beneath where you lay. You watch with a detached interest as a huge centipede wormed its way in and out of the jungles floor. It was easily the length of a skateboard and fat around as a pop can. You work back to the word, jungle; that is exactly where you appear to be; a jungle. So what are you going to do about it?

Look for a way out emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

You were a man. A human male. You may have a sweet high voice, and temporarily lost your favourite body part; but you haven't lost your personality and be damn you would die alone in some fucking jungle! You choose to walk straight, in theory you should find something or someone eventual under those conditions. Walking was a bit awkward at first, adapting to the lion or lioness if you were being accurate; was fun. If tripping over them and nearly landing face first in hell knows who or what's shit. You do however start to adapt. Your stride becomes more confident, your shoulders straighten. The claws on your hand, or paws. Make quick work slicing the vegetation that's in your way. The scorpion tail that swung wildly around you, seemly had a mind of its own. It's not in your way so you choose to ignore it. You continue on much around you looks the same. Tall green grass, green vines and more green stuff. The birds you heard earlier go silent has you walk by, you can hear them rustle above you in the tree tops above with your new heighten hearing, but them and any other creature avoids you.

“Not that I blame them.” You mutter aloud to yourself. You were obliviously some major predator. The weight on your back and a glance over your shoulder display large black folding wings. You took the opportunity to stop and touch them. They were soft and leather, kind of like a bat. You weren't a zoo keeper but you've seen them on TV and image it was the same as those you now had. Maybe if you could find a clearing you could fly out of here? The thought gives you a flash of hope. If you could fly, you could get farther faster, you could see everything easier too. Help was one clearing away!

The thought in mind you double your efforts until the sun started to turn orange between the tree companies leaves. Not stupid enough to travel after dark you stop beneath one of the bigger trees. It roots twist and turned around the truck giving a round bed like nook. You kick around and clear up the surrounding foliage, clearing the space for yourself and making sure no one else occupied it. You were tired and thirsty. Surprisingly not hungry, but you could make without food much longer than water. Tomorrow water was the first thing to search for, perhaps you could find a clearing and some water. That would be a great break you think, as you curl up like great cat you mostly are and sink into deep dreamless sleep.

Next Day emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

The sun woke you with your blinding light. Waking you to your dry throat. You would never take your refrigerator for granted again. The idea of pouring yourself a nice tall glass of juice would have made you droll, if you had the saliva to spare. You stretch high up, flexing your paws with the familiarity of years instead of hours. In need of water you rotate your shoulders and start walking.

Water had to be somewhere. Otherwise, a tropical jungle like this would wilt, right? You walk for what feels like hours. A low and twinkling sound stops it, like a water fountain. Like a water fountain! You turn about excitedly. Rustling the debris you've been walking on and losing the precious sound that could lead you to the water. You stop moving, heart beating hard as you try to calm yourself. Listen, you command yourself. With your new hearing you should have this.

A slow twinkle, it was soft sound and distant sound; meaning it was probably far away. Would you risk leaving your straight path. A path to you felt relatively save in travelling without getting lost. Or would you follow the sound possibly leading to water and quince your thirst but now the possibility of you getting turned around and lost would be higher.

Follow that water emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

You decide to risk it. The average human could go four days without water. The average manticorn could go how long? Were you ever consider a manticorn? Considering how your body was either swallowed or transformed into your current state. Shaking your head free of these cluttered and unnecessary thoughts you head to the sound of water. After that you would go back to your original plan of finding a spot to try to fly up from. The ability to gain some idea of your whereabout's would bea deciding factor in your survival.

Gathering your wits and your courage close to your chest like armour. You trudge on showing how strong the human spirit, your human spirit really is. You once again were cutting down large leaves and towering grass. Snapping down on branches and bugs as you stamped on-wards towards the twinkling sound of water. Your hearing had become exceptionally good, maybe too good compared to your human hearing. The coolness of morning passed as the sun reigned high above sending down beams of heat into the trees canopy.

You are starting to feel the weight of the heats burden on your body. The sun was bringing heat, nothing to bad. You could handle a dry heat, but this jungle was humid. A wet heat that made every breath you took harder than normal. The very air was thick and taking it in was its own work out. Then there was the effort of cutting down a path with your claws. You needed the path, you needed to see what was in front of you. You needed to see each step was a safe one. Unable to risk a twisted ankle or a broken neck from falling down a hole or tripping of the roots of one of the large trees.

Humid air was wetting and matting your fur coat. Although you had a whole new respect for pets surviving the summer. You felt like you were in a fog. Thoughts are coming unfocused and plainly speaking stupid. Did you really need to think, that if you got home in this form would you have to use a litter box or if you still could use a toilet and would you fit if you could? It was a clear sign of heat exhaustion but what could you do about it? Nothing.

Fighting on your claws cuts become weaker. Your path less straight. In order to keep yourself awake you repeating in your head. You will get home. It quickly became your mantra. Hell, it was your way of life. You would do anything to get home. Anything. Even with the spirit willing the body could only take so much abuse. Your head starts to spin, your vision unfocused as the jungle around you turns into a spinning wheel of greens and browns. Feeling yourself fall. You curse at yourself with all your might. Stand up you putz! Put this was all in your head. You hit the ground with a splash. Splash? The river! You found the river! You smile weakly though your heat drugged mind. The river was so refreshing and the mud was cooling. Now you understood all those trips your mother took to the spa. It was heaven, and you would have your fill once you woke up.

Recovery emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Spending a day and night unconscious in a mud trail that ran along the river wasn't your idea of a good time. You did feel better for it though, all well that ends well. Isn't that how the saying goes? Unsure if you would be lucky enough to find another source of water and not wanting to repeat yesterday. You take the option of following the river. For anyone who lived in this fucking heat would live along it for the same reasons you were following it. Water was a necessity for live and this heat was cruel and you needed it more here more than ever.

You didn't need to cut down any foliage along the rivers edge either. You needn't waste any of your energy. A bit hungry you took the time to eye your surroundings for fruit trees or nuts. It's a jungle so at least there should be some bananas? Feeling better with the security of a water source you walk along with ease. Things were looking up. You will get home.

Food emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

What kind of jungle didn't at least have banana's?! You woke early with the grey light of dawn barely peaking out. Not that you wanted to or even that you thought to get a head start. Your stomach woke you. Water did not fill your stomach, well it could but it wasn't the same! Crumbling you kicked at the small rocks you found along your path. No food, no clearing to try out your wings. No sightings of a camp, housing or anything of any help.

“Fuck.” you grumble out loud to yourself, seeing as no one was there, which summed up the start to this day rather well.

Today began while you looked into the river. Surly there was fish in that river. Fish was food. A nasty, smelly, and you didn't want to think on what else it was but it was disgusting, okay? A few days alone had your reasoning to yourself. You also deemed fine. Really out of all the shit happening to you, why worry over a little conversation to yourself? Back to the matter at hand. You were really tempted by the idea of fish.

Cooking it wasn't an option as you had no way to start a fire. The Japanese ate it raw, you could do it to. This was the jungle, you were a little concern about if the fish would try to eat you back. You're seen movies. You've watched documentaries. Not wanting to become fish food was a solid concern, a small quake and grumble let you know your stomachs vote. What the hell? You walk into the water slowly looking into the murky depths for some sign of life. For the sign of food. A flicker of water to your left catches your eye. You reach out with your cat reflexes and catch yourself a fish.

“All right!” you cry out holding the fish high in a victory pose. “Today I feast!” Hunger keeping back your basic human concerns of bacteria and hey isn't that fish is raw and flopping? You bite into the middle of it without a batting an eye. It was surprising good, like chicken. Why did everything taste like chicken? You ponder this thought as you walk out of the water. Confident you could go back anytime for more, you don't bother grabbing another. You don't dwell on the three-sixty your attitude towards eating it became either...

A few more days emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Still, no sign of human life. No clues to your way home, but your steadily marching on. A diet of water and raw fish left you with some stomach trouble. You manage to overcome it with most of your dignity intact because at least no one saw you.

While fishing a larger, much more aggressive fish attacks you. It sought your freshly caught fish. You leap back just in time as the long narrow mouth comes at your fished filled paws. Darkness shoots over your head in the form of your scorpion tail. It comes down with a lethal force destroying the attacking fish by splitting it in two. Saving your from a life threatening injury. A bit shaking you gather you spirit and move on. Keeping a weary eye on the waters edge.

You hate fish! You hate the water! You hate this fucking jungle! Releasing inhuman roar as you rage against your current situation. You are strong willed but after eight days hope was faded to black.

“I want to go home!” you yell to uncaring trees. “I want to go home!” Your break down last the entire day with you falling into a tired heap.

Keep Going emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

Worn from yesterday's break down. You walk along the waters edge, not because your hope has returned. Or your anger at yourself as wane. It is simple because you have no clue what else to do. You were far from home and the idea that you could never return to it. Reigned like a dark cloud over you. You didn't fight against it, you let it hang there as it whispered dark discouraging words over. Yet despite all this you continued the day by simply putting one foot in front of the other.

You lean against a tree. Eyes staring blankly up into the tree canopy. Hopeless, nine days and nothing had changed.

“What is the fucking point?” you whisper and hang your head, before your mind continued on that darker path. Your eyes spot something unusually at the base of a neighbouring tree. You drop to your knees and scurry towards it. Using your claws against the leaves covering the trunks base was overkill but if it was what your thought it was.

“Ha!!” you shout out as you reveal a carved arrow in the trees base. An arrow the pointed away from the river but!! You stand up excitement flowing though it stronger than before. That arrow must have been carved by human hands! Human hands meant help! Help meant home! Home meant food, shelter, safety, a way out of the fucking female manticorn suit! With a skip in your step you look around for more arrows and you find one, just a few trees away and another and another. The deeper you went the more they appeared. Night quickly fall and even with the encouraging sign of humans. You knew better than to roam at night and you stop to sleep.

Keep following emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

The next day continued as much as the first. Some carvings changed as you start to pass berries and fruit trees. They were marked with an x or a circle. The system was easy to understand x's were bad and circle's good. You hum as you picked a hand full of berries as you walked. Whomever you were following was a good guy.

It has been a couple days since you followed the signs but you were still in high spirits. This area let you watch the multi coloured parrots and other birds you had no name for. It was beautiful and relaxing. Watching them as you followed the arrow maker's marks. Life was looking up though an end was not clearly in sight.

Stone steps! You paws were cold hard stone! They were large misshapen stones, they were clearly flat and smooth and were trailing up pass your line of sight.

“Civilization!!” you whoop into the air. A stone path clearly built by human hands. You were on your way. Adrenaline pumping though your veins, you sprint off. Laughing almost hysterically as you do so. This path weaved in and out of the trees but the space between was clearing, more kept. You fly by them you see this in a flash that's to how the costume changed your body. You briefly think you might miss that but snort the idea away. You'll be a human again! Reunite with your favourite body parts again, which after experiences a female form; made things much easier to pee.

Running long and hard. A small cabin came into view when night was beginning to encroach on the sun's light. After such a hard and non-stop run with only berries and the odd falling fruit. You hadn't the energy to continue on or to stop yourself from passing out inches from your goal

A cabin emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

You woke up once again around dawn. Which had become your routine in this pass two weeks. You were a bit groggy at first. Your body creaky from sleepy on the hard stone path. Blinking a few times cleared your vision and you thoughts.

“The cabin!” You shout pushing your body up despite the groans of protest from it. In the light of day, you could clearly see the cabin. Or what you thought to be a cabin. It was more of a large shack. Built in a large square shape. It's sides were logs bound together with vines. The logs were rotting in some spots and obviously dragged in from where-ever they fell for the ends were rough and broken.

“What the fuck?” The effort to drag them here but not cut them properly was plan weird. They took the effort to make signs and tell people what was safe to eat but couldn't bother making a proper structure? Well, you shrug your shoulders. It didn't really matter in the end, you guess. As long as they were willing to help. Sure a manticorn talking to you would be weird, but you felt confident you could expressive yourself. Explain what happen without the other party freaking out. The door was a large woven grass blades. You hesitate in front of it and knock on it. Friendly human, see me knocking? That's your plan. It wasn't a bad plan, a monster or scary manticorn wouldn't knock on your door, would they? You anxiously rub the back of your leg with your other foot. No one was answering. You knock again, instead of lightly on the woven door; harder on the wood beside the door. If anyone had left earlier they would have seen you. Your still alive, so there wasn't anybody hostile about and arrow maker wouldn't have left you lying there.

“Hello!” you shout out has your knocks go unheard. “Is anyone there?” You knock on the wood again. “I'm lost and I need your help!” You waited again and you still have no answer to your call.

Deserted emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar emptystar

“Ah, fuck it.” You mutter to yourself as you decide to open the door. If anyone was there you would apologies and for all you know perhaps the arrow maker was in there and needed your help. It was perfectly reasonable to go in and if it wasn't the friendly arrow maker. You flex you paw and extend your claws. “Welcome to the jungle.” Bitterly you say this to yourself more than to whoever may be inside. With a plan for the good and the bad you push the door fully open with one swift kick of your foot.

You look around quickly, eyes darting around equally for danger as it was for help. Disappointment washes though you as you see nothing in the room. Nothing. No beds, no food storage, no clothes. Nothing!! You emotions start fraying at the edges. It couldn't be. You dart into the room. Looking around again you and relax when you see it wasn't completely empty as you original feared. There were three cases, rough and worn. They looked like old carry-on cases. Maybe someone crash-landed here? Your fears eased up as you make quick strides to the suit cases.

Once in front of the suit cases you notice some writing craved into the wall. After staring at arrows and other symbols for survival you recognize it as your arrow makers marks. You chose to read it allowed. To add noise to the silence or to reassure yourself, you not sure which.

“Welcome costume wearer's. I like you, was once trapped in a suit and transformed not into a beast but as a sex that was not born. I came across this shack and the marked things to help others caught in this cruel devil's magic. Before making the choice you too must make.” The guy talks funny, that was fucking sure, but he was your only hope so you continued to read out loud.

“In these three odd travel trunks are other costumes.” Your heart wilts at this news. What the fuck! “In order to return home you must change into multiple forms. Demons that consume your flesh and change your form before finding the one that returns you home.” Shit. Fuck. You think as you force yourself to finish the last sentences. “You can only choose one. Or you can choose none. I selected this path for myself and pry for my families forgiveness. May the reader of this wall have more strength than I. I'll wait for those who don't prevail.”

You had to choose one? And continue on in another costume, in another world no doubt. To find your way home. That fucking sucks! Enraged but not without hope, you had some bad times but were you going to though in the towel completely? Fuck no! Without thinking, you through open.
