You are standing by a tree star star star emptystar emptystar

There are 3 paths.

One appears to go to a jungle,
one appears to go to a cave,
one appears to go to a beach,
you could try and climb the tree,
there is a nearby shop you could go in,
or you could do something else.

So what's its going to be?

You sit under the tree.

Suddenly...

See? Keep moving or you get tranked. That's how the game is played. star star star halfstar emptystar

Your relaxing moment under the tree is rudely interrupted by an abrupt transformation. You are hit by a tranquilizer dart, which turns you into a person with a tranquilizer dart stuck in their neck. It's an easy change. Of course, your train of thought gets about as far as "Oh good heavens, a dart of some kind. I'd betteeerrgmphqq," at which point the dart takes effect, and you slump under the tree like a drugged-up rag doll. A half-hearted twitch is all the moving you do for quite some time. Eventually, you wake up. When you do, you are...

Whatever was in the tranquilizer, it's not very eager to wear off. In the vague fog between awake and asleep, you learn that you are in a sitting position, in a mildly comfortable chair, and there is a nice-sounding voice welcoming you to the Transformational Institute.

Your mind clears. You are in what appears to be some sort of lobbey. The walls are covered with mirror tiles (probably one-way mirrors hiding cameras, you note), as are the ceiling and floor. There is also a plain white desk, with an attractive woman in a labcoat sitting behind it.

On the wall behind her you see an elevator, and a frightening-looking black double door marked "Main Lab." On the wall to your right, there is a far friendlier door with a smiley face on it and a large orange "Welcome" painted on it. The woman in the labcoat smiles at you.

"Just pick a door and you'll be on your way."

So, which door do you pick?

Feeling brave, you pass through the imposing double doors and find yourself in a seemingly endless hallway. On either side are doors. The door behind you is locked, so your only option is to pick a new door. Where do you go from here?

That was a bad idea star star star star halfstar

Okay...of all the doors in the whole lab, The Grafting Lab door is probably the single worst door you could've chosen. Just saying....

Nonetheless, you (probably by mistake) walk through the Grafting Lab door. Pity, really. You're instantly grabbed by a creature that appears to be an anthropomorphic tyrannosaurus with the head of a rhinoceros, and a wolf-man-gorilla...thing. They slam you down roughly, feet first, on a yellow circle on the floor of the room. The circle starts glowing, and you're lifted off the floor, floating in a standing position.

After assuring that that you can't escape the hover hold, the creatures let you go. You then get your first good look around the room you're in.

Across from you is the door you came in. Near it is a collection of odd-looking medical sort of equipment and an operating table. Behind you is a large metal door, the kind you might find in a barn. Near the door is...a robot horse. Odd...

There two men in lab coats near the operating table, and one of them approaches you.

"Welcome," he says, "to the grafting room. What we seek to do here is create creatures that are part human, part...something else. Things like centaurs and mermaids. The stuff of 'fantasy.' Now, these are particularly complicated and dangerous transformations, because they involve a lot of adding and subtracting of limbs, and an entire part of the subject needs to remain intact. It isn't easy to use our normal methods with these. But here, we're pioneering a new method.

It could...change...your outlook on what is impossible."

The man signals the two creatures, who approach you menacingly and, in a few deft movements, tear your clothes off. Told you this was a bad room to pick. The scientists then begin to study and measure you intently, prodding you and poking you, often in places you'd rather be neither prodded nor poked. After an unbearably long time, one of them says, "Yes, she'll do quite nicely." At his words, the two creatures pick up the ends of a long, black cord. One of them sticks his end to you.

You feel an electric jolt through your legs, and then nothing. You can't move your legs anymore. Then, the other creature plugs his end of the cord into the robot horse. You notice something odd--although you can't move your own legs, you can move the robot's quite easily; all four, in fact, plus the tail!

The scientists take no notice, distracted by a woman bursting through the door you came in by. She's dressed like the other scientists, but you can see a tail poking out from under her lab coat. She whispers urgently to the two men, huddle in a far corner of the room, poring over a chart she brought in with her. Maybe, you think, you should stop playing around. Maybe you shouldn't control the robot. Maybe it doesn't matter, though, and it's nice to be able to control someone's legs, if not your own.

Another mistake! star star halfstar emptystar emptystar

Well, that was another mistake. Once the scientists see you moving the robot horse, they become ecstatic.

"Excellent," one of them says. "You've responded to the test well. Now, what animal would you like to...join?"

"I don't understand," you say, although you're beginning to. The scientist explains:

"We can connect you to, essentially, any animal you'd like. You can be a "Taur" or a mer-creature. Or, perhaps if you're more bold, something...else. Take your pick! Or should we just pick for you?
