From a transformation perspective if you take out the first chapter and epilogue you remove all the transformation content. From a story perspective you have a number of chapters about the gods which add little to the story.
The transformed character could easily be replaced by a dragon without changing the story. The charracters at the end are pretty much the same at the end as they were at the start.
Overall the biggest problem is the ending is a character who is only refrenced steps in and solves everything without seeing the rest of the characters living afterwords
