Distract the inn keeper
All those that had followed you earlier had long since returned to the safety of the lighted building. Now, the building sits sealed with only the windows letting out a sign of life. Your eyes track the path up to the door, peeking even to the windows where light darts out into the night and the faint shapes of the remaining patrons show through.
Edging up, you step out from the trees and begin towards the bar, staying towards the edges of the lights reach so your large frame is masked. Every step falls silently now, the pads cushioning your weight while the tips of your long hair gently whisk through the tall grass, matching the woosh of the wind whispering through the fielded area.
At the side of the bar, you look in again. Now, out of danger of the immediate danger of the change, you spot the amulet just behind the leg of a table. It must have just dodged your sight earlier. Creeping closer to the window, you scope out who remains in the bar to pose any threats. The barkeep is still aimlessly wiping over the surface of the bar while his wife continues her sweeping near the back corner. The mystery man in black remains, but his hood is pulled so low he may be sleeping. The courtesans have slipped off with the youngest, neatest men in the bar- most likely upstairs to the inn portion of the building, but the rowdy drinker still perches on a stool grumbling into an open mug.
"How am I going to get in..." You think to yourself, lashing your long tail a bit harder before realizing that the wife has propped open the back door so she can sweep the dirt right through it. "I can get in there... just have to distract her enough..."
Again, you're inspecting the room. You try to find another door, but the simple building only has entrances on the front and back, with the front door lodged completely closed and without thumbs, you doubt you'd be able open it without causing a ruckus. You eye the bar, trying to find some way to lure the bartender out of the way, but there's no windows near the shelves of bottles. You grumble before you spy something that just might work.
You turn to see that the courtesans, while they left, had beers on their abandoned table. You edge toward the nearest window to the corner spot and push on its frame with one paw. As the frame yawns and lets the window swing inwards, you swivel to let your tail, long as it is, duck beneath the cracked window and flick against the nearest glass. It toppled over with a thunk followed by the trickling of lukewarm ale spilling out against the floorboards.
"Oh!" The wife gasped, her hurried footsteps mere background noise as you circle the building, body entirely outstretched to cover the distance in seconds before you're darting in and diving for the amulet. You scooped it up your paw, but the oversized claws grapple against the wood flooring clumsily.
