You sit down. Your head is spinning.

 

"I don't know, " you say.

 

"You know I'm from Earth, right?"

 

"Yeah, so?"

 

"This is already an alien world to me. I'll have enough trouble adapting to an alien world without adding a few more."

 

"Oh, I'm not suggesting going there. They are just sending an untommed probe."

 

"What kind of probe now?"

 

"Untommed. Tom as in tomcat. Anyway the jumpstation is in deep space and it would take couple of days to get there. I thought we could watch it on the vidcast, and if you have any problems you could just pretend it's a science fiction movie."

 

You look curiously up at the inventive tomcat.

 

"So you are sort of suggesting that we watch a movie together?"

 

"Yes."

 

You take a deep breath. "Robert... Are you asking me for a date?"
