Get out
Another explosion racked the hut. “I’m out of here,” you instantly announced. You sprinted out of the hut as embers from that explosion licked the hut. It’d catch on fire soon enough. You eventually fought your way through all the dense air pollution that was quickly coming out of this and promptly stopped dead in your tracks. You saw Guilmon, growling and feral, taking on a trio of blank-eyed Hagurumon. Standing on the head of the middle one was an Impmon, chortling like the little prankster it was.
You swallowed thickly. “This never ends well.”
“All right, you, hand over all the goods and nobody else gets hurt. You got that?” Impmon demanded with a smirk, playing with a wisp of fire between his fingers. The Hagurumon remained there still as statues, awaiting further commands.
“If you had asked me that before you started attacking the village, I might have complied,” Guilmon retorted, fire brewing inside his maw. It was amazing what a nice person would do when his buttons were pushed too hard.
Impmon growled and pointed at Guilmon, who seemed to be the sole protector at this time. “Wrong answer. Hagurumon! Be like pirates and pillage and burn! I want everything of value!”
A firefight ensued. The Hagurumon continued attacking while Guilmon tried his hardest to fend them off. You took cover to not get caught up in the crossfire. With an inability to access Renamon’s attacks or skills, you’d be deadweight. Though, every now and then, you peeked from your hiding spot to see how Guilmon was doing. He was losing. It was three-on-one after all. Sweat matted across your fur, and your heart raced. Guilmon had been nothing but nice; he didn’t deserve any of this. “But, dang it, what could I do to help?!”
Then, you saw one of the Hagurumon kick an In-Training Digimon while the other two kept a pleading Guilmon preoccupied. Impmon laughed sadistically.
Your blood seethed. He did that purely to be cruel.
